Problem (Abstract)
During a scheduled client backup, the OS command defined with the option PRESCHEDULECMD, fails with error rc=128
The following events were recorded in the client dsmsched.log:
Executing scheduled command now.
09/14/2009 18:06:03 Executing Operating System command or script: C:\TSM\BACLIENT\tsmpresch.BAT
09/14/2009 18:06:03 Finished command. Return code is: 128
09/14/2009 18:06:03 ANS1902E The PRESCHEDULECMD command failed. The scheduled event will not be executed.
09/14/2009 18:06:03 ANS1512E Scheduled event 'DAILY_PM' failed. Return code = 12.
09/14/2009 18:06:03 Sending results for scheduled event 'DAILY_PM'.
The return code 128 is received from the Windows OS and it means "There are no
child processes to wait for."
A reboot of the client machine should fix the issue, however, if the issue is reoccurring, then review the following MS article:
